The World is Mine!

I have the tendencies to become conceited at some times, being the cat that I am. There's a joke that's been going around amongst animal lovers. It goes:

What is the difference between a dog and a cat?
Answer: The dog says to his owner: you love me, you feed me, you pet me...you must be God. On the other hand, the cat says to his owner: you love me, you feed me, you pet me...I must be God.

We'll it is quite true. I am a house cat and I consider myself blessed for all the things in a cat's life can have.

Sometimes, I reflect on my remaining 8 lives ( Yes, I was near-death before when I swallowed a spoonful of bleach )...What if I was homeless? What if I was left alone in the old apartment where my owners used to live? What if I was abandoned? What if I get really sick? Will I use up my remaining lives?

So I have gathered and humbled myself, and I hope these words will touch humans and animals alike:

Today upon the Animal House*** I saw,
A lovely dog with golden hair
I envied her – she seemed so gay
And oh, I wished I have the same hair

When suddenly she rose to leave
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had only fore legs and used a support hind,
But as she passed, a smile.

Oh God, forgive me when I whine;
I have four feet – the world is mine!

And when my owner and I stopped by the pet supplies to buy some treats,
The lad who served us had such a charm;
Beside him a tom cat, resting by the counter,
Its manner was so kind and warm.

I said to him, “Meow, it’s nice to deal with your lad and you,
such courtesy I seldom find”,
Tom cat says, “Meow, thank you!”
And I saw that he was partially blind.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine;
I have two sharp eyes – the world is mine!

Then, walking down further towards the vet clinic,
I saw a bunny with eyes of blue,
He stood and watched the other animals play;
It seemed he knew not what to do.

I stopped a moment, then I said,
“Meow, why don’t you join the others, dear?”
He looked ahead without a word,
And then I knew; his one ear cut-off, he poorly hears.

Oh God, forgive me when I whine.
I have two ears – the world is mine!
With feet to take me where I want to go,
With eyes to see the sunrise and sunset’s glow.
With ears to hear what I should know.

I’m blessed indeed. The world is mine!!
Oh God, forgive me when I whine.

How about the other animals out there? Do they have a good life like me? Is someone helping them? I believe my owner contributes to PAWS regularly. And me? I have this blog for all other animal lovers and pet enthusiasts' awareness.
